about

Those lucky ones of us who were there in those crowded Bay Area bars on those few murky nights remember. For those who weren't, or had a few too many microbrews we present an document of sorts, "Into The Depths of Degradation," a single track rehearsal cassette that captures the classic BM group at their most classically 90s Death Metal. Oh and the cases are bright red.

Balan himself describes the tape far better than I could though, in the liner notes he wrote for the release shortly before bugging off to a shack in the Sierra Nevada Range and leaving the rest of us here to cope with the pandemic as best we could....

"Greetings Maggots,

This recording was made in our Oakland, CA rehearsal space in June of 2018 during the brief time that POW existed as a full live band. It was recorded on a cheap portable 16-bit recorder, and I ended up doing a crappy mix of it for Bandcamp. As the lifeforce of the project is winding down, the idea of a proper release that represented this period of the band became appealing to me and I extensively remixed the entire thing. It still sounds fucked, but in a good way, and not in a way that sounds like it was recorded through a turnip. I know – very un-kvlt.
So presented here warts and all is the Palace of Worms live set for the 3 shows we played. Thanks to the guys for putting up with my anxiety and obsessive-compulsive behavior. Thus ends my first and last attempt to come out of my Uni-bomber cabin and be a band leader.

AVE!

NICHOLAS “BALAN” KATICH
DECEMBER 2021"

There's not really a lot more to say after that. Here's the tracklist:

1. APPROACHING DEATH
2. DEAD MAN
3. THE LOST
4. ROT FROM THE STARS
5. WENDIGO SICKNESS
6. THE LODGER
7. NIGHTWORLD
