Longtime followers of this label will recall the 2015 debut of In the Midst of Wolves on our brutal lo-fi sublabel PSALM 88. That twisted, burnt mass of blackened Old Testament noise metal was a collaboration between label boss Osmanthus (Dunnock, Dhampyr, Tyrant Flycatcher, etc) and the then Indonesian based noise composer Greg Schroeder. Eight years later Greg is living and working in Korea and ready to drop the debut solo physical release from his celebrated Delhi Swim Club project on the world.

"59" shows Schroeder almost entirely free of the heavy influence of black and death metal that marked that previous collaboration. Instead we find something very similar in both sound and spirit to the quick and violent punky, cut-up noise of projects like the legendary SBTDOH (another PSALM 88 veteran) and the more playful work of Shanghai's Torturing Nurse.

Vaguely and not so vaguely political samples briefly emerging from the shuddering miasma before disappearing again. In true punk fashion no texture remains long enough to wear out its welcome. This is not one for the diehard HNW fans seeking out the latest austere and contemplative ambient wash to mediate to. This is the noise tape you put on before getting into a sidewalk fist fight or lobbing a brick in the general direction of an authority figure. Give it a shot, just please remember to put your mouthguard in first.
